As it is our Winter time here, we have just returned from a research trip of Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand looking at different ways shave ice is served. We came across a franchise of the 'Bubble Tea' which served the shave ice like a smoothie with tapioca bubbles and jelly. It was sealed in the plastic cup and the customer punctured the lid with a large straw to drink the mix including the 'bubbles & jelly'. Whilst not a shave ice product we wondered if the powder flavour mixture was similar to be used as a concerntrate but without the complications discussed on the previous post on Taiwanese Snow (milk based). It was very popular in the countries we visited but that may be because it was a 'local' treat however we noted that it is expanding already into Australia and maybe other countries. Does anyone have experience with this product or seen it coming more main stream? We also saw the use of coconut milk poured over shave ice and topped with chocolate syrup and tapioca, fruit jelly.
