Hello

We are looking to start a shaved Icee business. We are looking at a sno shack business that is for sale with the trailer and everything else but is a 2 man trailer and not allot of room. We would like to offer cream flavors ( I have not seen these flavors around here) but I do not think there will be enough room for it in the trailer. So we are looking to buy new equipment and use one of our 10 x 10 tents. We will be doing mainly festival, craft shows, fund raisers and fairs. We would like to get a block shaver as we can get block ic here and I have a smalll house and not enough room to freeze our own ice. The question is is there a good machine that can use blocks that is 5 to 5.5" square and about 10 to 12" long I am not sure on the size I have not completely check it out. We will not be getting anything untill the beginning of the year.

Aloha Tom,

Starting with a canopy is a smart decision for the types of events you would like to do. It's a lower investment than a trailer and give you the opportunity to see if you like it or not
For the blocks of ice you are looking to use, you will need to cut them in half for use in any of the traditional "Hawaiian shave ice" machines like the Hatsuyuki, Swan, or Fujimarca. This can be done using an electric hand saw or 6-prong ice pick and rubber mallet. Check out this video
