Hi from Santa Barbara

Hi I just got my Fujimarka starter kit and it's pretty cool! Did a freebie today at kid's football practice. Everyone loved it and it was a lot of fun. There is something satisfying about making delicious treats by hand like this. Like like like.
Initial observations:
1) Wow! they syrup takes A LOT of sugar!
2) We're going to try and do some local events here.
3) Careful! They don't come with any directions. The blades are really sharp. Ask my thumb.
4) Are there bottles that meter the amount of syrup?
5) In the Philippines -- where I lived, there is something just like Shave Ice. But they call it
"Scramble". Not exactly a moniker that suggest a cool, refreshing beverage.
6) I got my machine from (here) and they're really nice!
7) An iceblock gets consumed pretty quickly.

@Brian...when you said "scramble" did you mean "Halo-Halo"?...aka "Mix-mix"?

I am Filipino too and I make this (on special occasions with relatives) using fine shave ice as oppose to crunchy ice they use in the Philippines. Have to use tons ice since the evaporated milk dissolves the ice too quickly.

For those of you who don't know what "Halo-Halo" is....it a special kind of ice dessert made with:
In the bottom of a tall cup: Sweet coconut string, sweet coconut gel, sugar palm, chick peas, red mung beans, sweet white beans, jack fruit, tapioca, then fill with shave Ice, and then pour evaporated milk is all over it. Usually topped with ube (purple jam yam) or ice cream! and then you "Halo" (Mix) it!

Kianaki,
We lived in Cebu and Bohol for 10 years and go back all the time because we have a business there. Actually "Halo Halo" is like you say, but there's this other thing called a "Scramble" that is quite similar to Shave ice, you find it in the street stalls. Halo Halo is more popular over there. People there have slightly different tastes, for example they often put corn in the halo halo and like corn flavored ice cream and also advocado desserts. Anyway, my wife wants to start doing some events here in Santa Barbara, I'm sure she'd love to talk to you about the business. What part of the Phils are you from?

Btw I think I added you on Facebook a while back.
