Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forums and recently had shave ice for the first time on the island of Kauai. It was so good I had to get my own block ice shaver. Now....where can I get that mac nut ice cream??

Welcome to the boards pster! There are a couple Hawaii ice cream companies that make your mac nut ice cream, but I am not too sure about the mainland.

Thanks. I live in California and I still haven't been able to find Mac Nut ice cream. Lappert's sells it online, but it is way too pricey at $120 for 6 pints.

I recently have started a shaved ice business with a mobile trailer. I am looking to get started around the Dallas, TX area. I have most of the equipment needed to start up however what I am finding impossible to find here is solid ice for a block shaver. The local ice companies all carry compressed ice however I have see that this is not to be used on block shavers. I have a Swans SI-100E ice block shaver. It is the round ice shaver. I have thought of getting a New Orleans style shaver instead or in addition to it as the side loader design I think is the easiest and using rectangular blocks instead of round. Anyone have any ideas on where to get block ice in this area or am I going to have to shell out a few thousand more and get an ice block maker?

Have you been able to find uncompressed rectangular blocks? The rectangular blocks cut in half will fit in the Swan :)
