renting a machine?

Postby jespark » Mon Jan 02, 2012 12:14 am

Does anyone know of a place to rent a cube shaver? I'm wanting to try out the Hatsuyuki for an event before I buy it. I saw a place to rent in Southern CA but we are in North Carolina.
Thanks!

We have used the Hatsuyuki cube shaver for events in the past. It does provide some of the best grade ice from a cube shaver on the market, however, you will find you'll spend a lot of time refilling the hopper. On a scale 1-10, I would give that shave a grade of about 7.5. The hopper holds a couple scoops of cubes and typically can shave maybe 3 or 4 smalls, but if you plan to sell the flower cup, then it will even take more time. I would say it's best suited for smaller venues such as private parties, small car shows, etc. I wouldn't recommend it for a large capacity crowd except as a backup. It also has a tendency to freeze up the axile if you are running it hard and then have to stop for a minute of two to get more ice, etc. The blade will also clog on you from time to time (as with any shaver). I know at one particular event we did in fact earn almost $1,300 in 6 hours using one Hatsuyuki shaver for 6 hours, so money can be made. One person shaving and one person pouring syrups, but I was never really happy with what went out the window.
Now to answer your question, I have no idea where to rent a Hatsuyuki machine. Block shavers are where the quality, quantity and money's at! Sorry for no help to your question, I just hoped that my information on the machine might help you some as well.

wow no one left a reply till 3 months later.

I am sure there are tons of PARTY RENTAL companies out there who does carry one or more of the Shave Ice machines for rent. If they don't at the moment, someone should open one and rent to our member :)
