Postby El_Piraguero » Wed Jun 09, 2010 11:02 pm

Just picking Brains, I am setting up a new Cart with antique Ice shavers and I thought Glass syrup bottles have a little more class then the plastic ones. Any Thoughts I am open to Opinions.

I don't think the customer knows the difference unless they get them in their hand. Both are very clear...the only advantage to glass is that they do not dull over time but plastic is much cheaper. Hope this helps,

For the modern person, I would definitely go with glass. For one main thing, you're dealing with selling food to children, and glass is definitely healthier, as plastics often shed unhealthy chemicals into bodies and then in the landfills. And those chemicals leech down into your water supplies. Glass lasts longer if you handle it safely. You are making a great profit margin on your snow cones or shave ice, so why be cheap on the dispensing parts that come into contact with the food itself? Local and national food inspection agencies have long been understaffed but many consumers are aware. Plastic can be unhealthy for water bottle - so why not sno cone syrup bottles, that sit all day or even for days on end - with sticky syrup that can leech chemicals out of the plastic into the syrup?

^^
I would totally agree with the above post. However these days glass bottles are hard to come across, and not much manufactures make them anymore.
