Good question! I believe somewhere in this forum we had that question answered. But IMO, to sell it for 1 dollar is just really wasting your time, unless you are to cut your cost to the point of actually making some what profit in terms of supply cost reduction with paper cups vs plastic, etc. Undercutting the quality is just not the right way of doing it I would say either.
People these days is not afraid to spend their money. But what return do they get from spending that money. For instance if your shave ice is indeed superb, even if you are to charge $3.00 for it, people will still come back to you. On top of waiting in line in the sun for it. Word of mouth is very important in the shave ice business as well. I honestly would not mind spending my money and waiting in line if the shave ice that I buy is top notch from texture to syrup, and overall presentation. Focus on all these factors, and you shouldn't have a problem with expanding your business in the future when your name is out there. Rather than go big in the beginning, slowly grow it, and people will know and recognize you. From there, you will be unstoppeable =) Hope this helps.
