Hey everyone,

I'm looking into starting a Shave Ice bike/cart. For the location I'm selling everything will need to be mounted on a bike.

I was thinking about using a manual ice shaver, welding on a gear and using another set of bike pedals to power the shaver as well as a blender. I know this will be a lot of work, and will slow things down a bit but I like it for it's simplicity/novelty factor.

Another way I could do it is have 12v ice shaver with some solar. The bike will also need to have a 5g sink and some pressurized Hot Water. I'm worried that this route will end up being ridiculously heavy.

So my questions are - Is the ice from a manual shaver "bad" ? I've never actually seen one, and I've heard a lot of different opinions. I don't mind ice which is a bit heavier/crunchier, but I obviously like the lightness of shave ice vs snowcones. I should be able to gear the shaver to spin it very fast...
Anyone in the Portland area have a manual shaver? I'd like to see the actual product.
Any one have some information on how much power the 12v units use?

Thanks
